GUVI Weekly Chronicle: Why Getting a Job After a Career Break Is So Difficult
Re-entering the workforce after a career break is more than updating a resume. The market moves fast. Skills get outdated. Recruiters prefer continuous experience. ATS systems filter out gaps. Confidence drops when you feel behind. This edition breaks down why returning to work feels harder than expected and what steps actually help you get back on track.
A career break creates challenges like skill mismatch, lack of recent project experience, and changed employer expectations. Along with these, we cover practical ways to rebuild momentum: targeted upskilling, project-based learning, portfolio creation, networking, and interview preparation that help you stand out again.

Success Story Spotlight
I dropped out of college after marriage and became a mom. Everyone around me said my career was over. My mom pushed me to restart college, and I balanced studies, arrears, and parenting at the same time. Even then, breaking into tech felt impossible until my brother introduced me to HCL GUVI.
I learned full-stack development in Tamil through evening classes while managing my child and projects. That effort helped me get placed as a Senior Node.js Developer. I went on to build more than fourteen projects and even launched one on the Play Store. Today, I am a single mom, a full-time developer, and proud of how far I have come. It was not too late. I just had to keep showing up.
